Hansi Wiens Head Coach
As a player, Wiens was a full-time professional player for eight years. During that span he was ranked as high as eighth in the world. A nine-time German Closed champion, he represented his country in team competition 46 times.
Hansi Wiens is head coach at Dartmouth College after coaching and managing the Balearic Islands (Spain) club team for three years. Prior to coaching in Spain he was the owner/manager and coach of the March Sports Club in his native Germany from 1996 until 2003.
Wiens studied engineering in German doing a three-year apprenticeship. He speaks four languages, German, English, Spanish and Russian.
Gary Gargan Assistant Coach
Gary Gargan entered his first year with the Dartmouth squash program as an assistant coach in 2017-18.
Gargan graduated from the University of the West of England in 2004 with a degree in sports conditioning and coaching. He has spent the last six years as a professional squash coach and the head pro for Cross Courts Squash and Fitness in Natick, Massachusetts. Along with his coaching in Natick he has spent many seasons coaching high school varsity teams including Dana Hall, Eagle Hill and Needham High.
Not one to sit still, he has also been active in the summer squash programs, working with teams at Dartmouth, Brown, Harvard, Yale and MIT.
This will be Gary’s fifth year coaching at our camp.
Theo Woodward Assistant Coach
Theo Woodward entered his first year with the Drexel squash program as an assistant coach in 2017-18. Theo came to Drexel after five years as assistant squash coach at Dartmouth.
Prior to moving to the United States Theo coached and mentored Professional Squash Association (PSA) and Women's International Squash Players Association (WISPA) players as well as junior players competing in international tournaments. Woodward has also worked with some of the best coaches in the world, including six-time de facto World Champion Jonah Barrington. Woodward studied Commerce at the University of Birmingham in the UK, graduating with honors and a prize for his extended study on Squash Sponsorship.
Valeria Wiens Administrative Director
Former top 3 in Germany,ranked top 25 in Europe(Juniors),coaches experience as a coach at Dartmouth College,working with the community and assisting with the Junior Program. Valeria has competed as number one on the Dartmouth Women's squash team throughout the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 seasons. She was chosen to be First Team All-American and All-Ivy for her achievements in her freshman year here at Dartmouth.
Chris Hanson Assistant Coach
2016 U.S. National Men's Champion. During his senior year Chris had the honor of being presented with the Kenneth Archibald Prize, which is awarded to the "member of the graduating class at Dartmouth College who has been four years in attendance, who has been the best all-around athlete, regard also being given to moral worth and high standing in scholarship."While at Dartmouth Chris was a 3-time All America, 4-time All Ivy, 2-time CSA Scholar Athlete.
Chris is now a full-time squash professional on the PSA World Tour and it will be Chris fourth year coaching at the Hansi Wiens Squash Camps at Dartmouth.
Kelsey Engman Assistant Coach
Kelsey Engman completed three season with the Dragons in 2015-16 after joining the Drexel squash coaching staff as the Assistant Squash Coach. Kelsey came to Drexel after a year as the squash professional at the Germantown Cricket Club, and five years of prior coaching experience at the collegiate level, including three years as the head coach of the Columbia women's squash team.
Jeff Forino Assistant Coach
Jeff is Dartmouth' Throws Coach with the men's and women's varsity Track and Field teams. In his career, Jeff has coached more than 40 All-Americans, including the 2010 Division II Indoor National Champion in the weight throw.
It will be Jeff's fourth summer with Hansi Wiens Squash Camps.
